Lip Sync Battle

Don’t forget that the ‘Lip Sync Battle’ is on this Saturday 24th February in ‘The Citywest Hotel’ at 8 pm. There will be a free bus leaving ‘The Speaker Connolly’ pub at 7 pm. Just let Jackie in the parish office know by calling in or ringing her on 01-4524702.

Ms. Foley and Ms. Costello are representing Scoil Carmel with three friends and are taking part as ‘The Spice Girls’.  They would appreciate as much support as they can get, so come along and cheer them on, as it is promising to be a great show.  All donations, ticket sales, etc is going towards worthy charities.

Tickets are €20 and can be bought from the Parish office or you can go and ask Ms. Foley and Ms. Costello and they will be able to order and get you tickets if that is easier.

Blending

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The children will be getting ‘Floppy Phonics’ from now on instead of ‘Sails’ for their reading. Children will still have to talk about the pictures on each page and discuss what is happening in the picture.  Children are encouraged to sound out the words in these books that they do not know. We have been doing ‘blending’ in school the last few weeks. ‘Blending’ is when the children use the sounds that they know to help them to read the word, i.e. c-a-t makes cat. Don’t worry if your child finds this difficult, as blending proves difficult for a lot of children. This will come with time and with plenty of practice.  Children may also recognise some ‘sight’ words in these readers like ‘I’, ‘am’, ‘a’, ‘can’, etc.

Regards,

N.Foley.
